FLX+ Player

Open-source software and source code

FLX+ Player plays media with libVLC by VideoLAN and other open-source libraries. Those libraries are free software; their licences give you the rights below. FLX+ Player’s own code is not open source.

Engine versions in this release (1.0.0)

  • Android: libVLC 4.0.0-eap29, rebuilt LGPL-only by us (our version 4.0.0-eap29-lgpl.1), LGPL-2.1-or-later. Sources and our build recipe: see "Android engine" below.
  • iOS and iPadOS: VLCKit 4.0.0a25 (libVLC 4), linked as a dynamic framework, LGPL-2.1-or-later. Source: https://code.videolan.org/videolan/VLCKit

These libraries include, among others: FFmpeg (libavcodec, libavformat, libswscale; LGPL-2.1-or-later), dav1d (BSD), libvpx (BSD), Opus, Vorbis, FLAC (BSD), libass (ISC), FreeType (FTL), HarfBuzz (MIT), FriBidi (LGPL-2.1), libxml2 (MIT), TagLib (LGPL-2.1/MPL-1.1), live555 (LGPL-3.0), libbluray (LGPL-2.1), libsmb2 (LGPL-2.1).

Your rights

  • You may obtain the complete corresponding source code of the libraries above, including the exact versions, build scripts and any changes we made (Android: listed under "Android engine" below; iOS: none), from the links above or from us: email [email protected] and we will send it, or a link to it, at no more than the cost of distribution. This offer is valid for at least three years after we last distribute this version.
  • You may modify these libraries and, to debug such modifications, reverse-engineer the parts of FLX+ Player that use them. Nothing in our terms forbids this.
  • The full licence texts are in the app (Settings › About › Open-source licences) and linked below.
